On September 15th, 2009, there was a commemorative event to celebrate the completion of the new extension of the Science and Technology building. The UOS students can now study in the Science and Technology Building that has new and improved facilities.

This new extension work started on November 17th, 2008. Due to the extension, students can do an experiment much easier in the better environment and with updated systems. The total of 21 rooms (7 laboratories, 7 annexes, 4 offices, 2 lecture rooms, and 1 reading room) were constructed on the 1st~6th floors. Especially, the new CAD/CAM laboratory can give both the students from the Department of Mechanical and Information Engineering and from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering a better environment to study.

Also, there is a remodeled Student Lounge on the 2nd floor. Students can take a rest, study or use their lap-tops in the new Student Lounge. This extension plan was included in the UOS middle and long term development plan in August 2005.
