These lines are in a scene of a movie. The movie is Avatar. It was made by James Cameron. Many people had to reserve their movie tickets in advance because of its popularity. Avatar was produced as a 3D movie and when moviegoers watch the movie in a 3D theater, they feel as if they are a character in the actual movie. 3D is an acronym for Three Dimensions or Three Dimensional. It allows people to feel obhects and see in different dimensions, not just a flat surface.
You may have wondered how a 3D movie is made. It is made by using two cameras to shoot the same scene at the same time. Then a computer graphic adjusts the proportion of the two scenes. In the movie theater, these scenes are shown on both sides and the characters and objects in the movie move more up and down than right and left. This is the reason why moviegoers feel vertical movements more easily than horizontal movements. Furthermore, the computer graphics program is the most important factor when producing a 3D movie.
In addition to movies, 3D techniques are used in various ways. Have you heard about 3D maps? We often search the map on the internet to obtain the information that we need from the map. At this moment, if you use 3D maps, you can utilize different types of information. It makes you feel as if you were standing in that place in the 3D map. One person hangs around with four cameras to make a 3D map. They shoot from the four cardinal directions, north, south, east, and west. Actually, these 3D maps are used in navigations as well.
3D techniques are also used in the fashion industry. Many people were surprised when they heard about this fact. For example, you can shop for items without going to a department store. On the internet, you can look around a shop and check items in detail. In addition to shopping, 3D is useful for the fashion part because if you are a fashion designer, you don’t want to produce faulty goods. The 3D technique helps your dream come true. There is also a 3D printer that recognizes stereoscopic objects and then it prints out the results. The principle of this relates to the building bricks at a construction site because the number of trials and errors are reduced as the result of using a 3D printer. For example, this 3D printer is utilized widely when new shoes are launched or new jewelry is designed.
Another area using 3D technology is in infantile education. Because children are interested in sensitive motions, surprising 3D views attract the visual attention of chilldren. Actually 3D books are released in bookstores and children really enjoy reading this type of book. They feel like they are going to be sucked into their books. They are so intent on their books that they don’t notice the time. They can also take part in a 3D imaginary which orally narrates children’s stories. The special camera recognizes their movements. Then it shows them on the screen. Children feel as if they were a character in the fairy tale.
Increasingly, we are able to experience the 3D world for ourselves. Many people seldom want to just feel only the sense of sight. They hope to feel all five senses. They go through 3D movie scenes in real life. You don’t need to go to a concert because of 3D techniques. You feel as if you went there. The producer shoots 3D images to make a hologram that creates an illusion that you are watching a real performance. Furthermore, you can not only see 3D but also touch it. When taking a picture, you just need a finger in a 3D theme park and when you touch the screen which is in front of you, it takes your photo. Then to print it, you just need to touch the screen one more time. That is it… it is very simple! More options…Do you want to put your picture in the frame? One click and the laborious task to buy a frame is over. Maybe you want to send a photo message to your friends’ phone? Press his or her phone number on the spot and it is done!!
Soccer in 3D? There is good news to soccer fans. Several companies in Korea are launching 3D televisions. So fans can watch lifelike soccer games. The World Cup will be held in June. If you have 3D television, you won’t be unhappy that you can’t go to South Africa because the 3D television will let you feel that you are at the World Cup stadium. Actually on February 1st, 2010, there was a soccer game between Arsenal FC and Manchester United FC. This soccer game was relayed by 3D television to Korean audiences. Several companies are developing 3D contents. Very soon we will be able to watch our lives go by in 3D!
