The early days of September were especially hot this year. Fortunately, autumn also marks the beginning of Chuseok, which is the Korean Thanksgiving day. Many Koreans say that autumn is the season of reading. So, The UOS Times’ Cover Story focuses on reading. We wondered how many students enjoy reading and what kind of books they like to read.

In my case, I have recognized the importance of reading. It provides huge advantages from thinking in a logical way to gaining various knowledge. Therefore, I have tried to read a book every week. Recently, I read a book named “Geon-tu-reul bin-da” which was written by Kim Eo-jun. That book is about how to lead life wisely. One of the lessons the writer is concerned with is self-objectification. This means that a person who objectively understands and recognizes oneself is not easily hurt by what others say or think.

As a result, a self-objectified person can be good at dealing with others’ opinions. After reading this, I think I underestimated myself in some aspects and overestimated myself in others because I really did not know myself well. So, I have had a chance to consider this subject.

The 111th edition of The UOS Times had several problems. Frankly said, there were some mistakes like spelling errors and confusion regarding the notational system. All reporters including myself were frustrated. In order to avoid repeating our mistakes, we had a meeting to evaluate our magazine. Looking back, each reporter went through a self-objectification process about their reporting skills. We recognized our weak points and set out to avoid repeating them again. Moreover, we are all open-eared to readers’ opinions toward us. We have Facebook and Twitter accounts so please share your opinions and make suggestions to us!

We have prepared exciting topics this time as well! If you are tired because of your classes and endless homework, we recommend you to visit Nami Island some weekend. It is a trendy place in Korea and it takes only two days to look aroud. Besides that, we discuss investments and “Grey’s Anatomy” because season eight of the show will start soon in the U.S.A. On top of these, our reporters covered a variety of other subjects as well.

After reading our cover story, if you set a goal to read a lot of books, I hope our magazine can be a part of your library!
