This year will become special to every University of Seoul (UOS) student. The policy called ‘A half tuition fee’ will come into effect from the first semester of 2012. Thanks to the policy, fees for this semester will range from ₩1,022,000 to ₩1,702,500. According to a ‘general affairs section’ in UOS, 14.8 billion KRW has been reserved as support for tuition.

With this, UOS students can attend classes if they just pay exactly half the tuition fees compared to last year. Even if some UOS students have already paid tuition, they do not need to worry about it. The UOS established a new scholarship policy for those students.

This policy will pay back the difference between the before and after tuition changes. It seems that the burden of expensive tuition fees will be greatly relieved by this policy and perhaps the policy may be an impetus towards reduction of tuition fees at other universities.
