With the centennial anniversary coming nearer, to correspond to the top brand image and status that University of Seoul (UOS) is aiming towards, the Institution Section at UOS decided last year, to make improvements to the Main Gate area of campus. The Institution Section posted a notice on our university homepage from October 27 to November 10, 2011, in order to gather suggestions from UOS members about what should be done to Jeonnong Square and area around the Main Gate. Members of UOS were able to write comments on the homepage or write down their suggestions on paper and submit them in boxes at the Main Gate information booth or the University Center lobby. After the opinions were gathered, an outline of the construction was posted on the homepage. The outline included the construction of a new Main Gate, improvements in creating space in Jeonnong Square (change in the shape of the road surrounding the square, making improvements in the pedestrian environment, extension of the main road) and installation of an automated parking control system.

The construction started on March 5, 2012 and is scheduled for completion by May 24. The operator of this construction is Baiklim Construction Co., Ltd. Though there may be some temporary confusion and inconveniences for students and cars passing through the Main Gate, the construction is expected to make the Main Gate more convenient and more attractive to all members of UOS.
