On May 9, the UOS library hosted a lecture of Kim Jin-myung, a famous Korean author known for his nationalistic novels such as ‘The Roses of Sharon Have Blossomed’ and ‘The Kidnapping of the Empress.’ Entitled ‘Youth and the Power of Inner Side,’ the lecture was meant to encourage UOS students to brace for the future more bravely. During the speech, Kim Jin-myung claimed that young people should focus on strengthening ‘their power of inner side,’ which refers to ‘youth’s ability to grow their own insights into the world.’ He said that young people should not fear what happens to them and embrace any challenge ahead, adding that such an attitude will earn young people a priceless reward in the future. About 100 students attended the lecture. After the speech ended, a lottery took place to choose students for Kim Jin Myung’s novels with his signatures on them.
