At 7 p.m. on Nov. 27, Kim Je-dong, a famous Korean entertainer, paid a visit to the UOS. He held a lecture titled ‘The 2012 Kim Je-dong wants to be your companion-on-the-shoulder,’ in Main Auditorium. Through his lectures, Kim has visited 40 different universities all over Korea to help students in their 20s. The UOS was his 40th and the final lecture. It was hosted by the UOS Student Council and The Peace Foundation. The lecture was held for free.

600 students could apply online and an extra 800 students were allowed in on the day of the lecture. The seats in the auditorium were almost filled with many UOS students who showed great interest in listening to what he had to say. During Kim’s visit, he talked about the most common problems and issues that people in their 20s go through.

It was a time of great laughter and sympathy. Kim’s sense of humor allowed UOS students to indulge themselves in a moment of laughter and relieve their stress. Plus, he also shared some of his personal stories and talked about the hardships that have made him into a stronger person. At the end of the lecture, students asked for advice about their personal problems. Kim gave sincere and witty advice. Although Kim’s talk was not long, his words inspired, entertained and healed many students. Many UOS students said it was an unforgettable experience to be face to face with and listen to a famous entertainer as a real person, not merely as an entertainer.
