Kim’s climbing team will go from 0m to 8,848m. Kim said, “The glacier melts down into the water, flowing down the Ganges River into the Indian Ocean. We will climb up the mountain in the opposite direction of the water flow.” Kim’s team will kayak for 150km, bike for 100km and walk for 150km in 38 days. Then, they will finally start to climb without any oxygen tanks.
This adventure is actually Kim’s second attempt at Mt. Everest. He had to turn back from the mountain in his earlier attempt because of an accident. His courage and eagerness to climb are the reasons that his challenge is meaningful to not only himself and his expedition team, but also UOS students.
