The last three months of 2012 and the first two of 2013 were probably the busiest moments for students who prepared for this year’s university admissions. As almost all of this year’s university admissions were completed, universities are occupied with the task of analyzing the application outcomes. The UOS was not an exception. The application rates of UOS freshmen admissions have already been calculated and reported through various news media.
For susi (admitted at any times) admissions, 30,099 applicants applied for 1,026 positions, with the application rate of 29.33: 1. The UOS’ susi application rate recorded a high decrease compared to that of last year, which was 50.19: 1, with 40,306 students applying. The decrease is believed to have been caused by the number of susi admissions allowed per student, which is now limited to six times starting from this year. Moreover, the UOS recruited students for only susi admissions during the first period, before the College Scholastic Ability Test.
As for jungsi (admitted at fixed times) admissions, the UOS showed an application rate of 8.00: 1, with 7,530 students competing for 919 positions. Among three different units for UOS jungsi admissions, unit ‘Da’ hit the highest application rate of 35.08: 1. Compared to the last year’s record, the overall application rate of UOS jungsi admissions increased a little, from that of 7.47: 1 for 2012.
