At 4:30 p.m. on March 3, Kim Ji-hyeong, the former chief justice, had a lecture in a mock court on the 5th floor of the General Lecture and Law Institute. He passed the 21st bar exam in 1979, worked at the court as a judge and then left for Germany to study law. When he came back, he returned to the legal profession and was appointed a Supreme Court Justice in 2005. Kim is a famous authority on labor laws.

He gave a lecture on how to become a good jurist and on the right attitude a good jurist must have. He started by lecturing about the main virtue to have as a jurist, picking credibility over ability. After passionately speaking about this virtue, he started to list the seven attitudes that a good jurist must have: a distinct goal, the ability to think about laws, doing one’s best, being cooperative, courage, selflessness and love for the work. Now he is retired and working as a corporate lawyer at the law firm ‘Jipyong Jisung.’

Meanwhile, the Law school of UOS, which held this lecture, successfully received a certification evaluation by the Law School Evaluation Committee (LSEC). This evaluation was first conducted since the law school was founded and the LSEC evaluated eight aspects including faculty, curriculum, facilities, etc. This time, 25 law schools were evaluated and 18 law schools were certified including UOS. The certification period is from March 2012 to February 2017. According to this evaluation, it is certain that the law school of UOS is being run successfully.
