To prevent students from saving or keeping one or more seats in the Main Library, the Student Council and the Independent Student Organizations from each department took a step. Every year, a lot of students complain about illegally saved seats in the Main Library, so they began a ‘Prevention of illegally saved or kept seats campaign’ in earnest starting this year. So far, the 4th check was completed on April 10.

The campaign is being run not only during the exam period, but continuously at unexpected times. However, so far, the spot check has been mostly conducted biweekly around 11 p.m. During this campaign, if students save or keep unreserved seats with their belongings for their own convenience, all the belongings will be taken to the Student Hall. The Student Council will notify the owner by leaving a memo on the desk or posting a notice online. Since this campaign began, the number of illegally saved seats gradually decreased from 210 to 130.

Some students complain that it is too noisy and distracting when they conduct a spot check in the quiet library and that they are upset about their belongings being taken involuntarily. Notwithstanding these complaints, the campaign is still being run in favor of the majority of students who want to study in the Main Library without discomfort.
