Daedongje has been postponed. After Sewol ferry tragedy took place, public opinion among UOS students was widely formed to suggest the postponement of Daedongje. Therefore the Student Council carried out a poll on postponing the festival from Apr. 23 to 25. And 58.96 percent of voters had an opinion that Daedongje should be postponed.

Kim So-yee (Dept. of Computer Science, ’13) said, “It is good that this festival was delayed while the public is still grieving for the big tragedy.” And lots of students have mourning heart for victims and the bereaved family more than for the postponed festival.

On the other hand, there were also student who have a negative opinion about postponing the festival. Kim Gang-min (Dept. of Open Major, ’14) said, “I doubt this is the right way. Sewol ferry tragedy was indeed a terrible disaster. But I think delaying does not change anything and if we proceed as planned, it will not mean that we do not share the pain and sorrow.”
