▲ The self-service ticket dispensers working at the student cafeteria
The Section of Welfare, part of Student Affair, installed selfservice ticket dispensers in the cafeterias and cafes at the beginning of this semester. There are six dispensers in front of the student cafeteria in the Student Hall, two in Aneukan, four in the student cafeteria of the Natural Science Building, one in the cafeteria of the University Center, two in “W.E.B,” two in “Cafe Be,” and two in “And Hyu.” After their initial installation, pros and cons both arose. Lee Jae-yong, the manager of Section of Welfare, said, “It was a good idea to install these self-service ticket dispensers for the students. Students can now obtain their food quicker than before. We always keep our ears open to student demands. Some functions of the dispenser were changed by student request.”

There are, however, many problems with the new ticket dispensers. Some students complained about the new order system. One anonymous student said, “I always take a coffee with little ice. It is too cumbersome to make another order at the counter after I make an order at the dispenser.” Lee responded, “It was possible to change to a system which offers more detailed options. If there are many choices, students will spend more time at the machine while placing an order. Thus, we simplified the functions of dispensers. We are sorry, but please make a more detailed order at counter after you make an order at the dispenser.” Another problem is random errors with the self-service ticket dispensers. Another anonymous student, who works for W.E.B, said, “

Sometimes, the printer, which notices the orders, does not work at all. Thus, we have to ask the customers to repeat their orders.” Lee elaborated, “There are a few minor problems. If the dispenser breaks down, it sends a message to us automatically. Thus, we will try to deal with the matter as soon as possible. We will constantly pay attention to the dispensers and improve the system. We ask for your continuous interest and patience.”
