Like many years in the past, this year’s Susi admission started in November. This year, there is no big change in the way UOS selects students. Susi and Jungsi admission are maintained same as other universities. However, the number of Susi admission has decreased significantly from last year. From the admission information of UOS, they had to cut the number of the Susi admission because of the suggestion from the Ministry of Education of Korea which states that universities are to make the admission process simpler than before. The Ministry also requires universities to lessen the burden of students for admission. In that point of view, UOS has followed the suggestion of The Ministry of Education well in 2015 admission.

For 2015 Susi admission, there are two big ways to evaluate students just like 2014 Susi admission: ① essay test and ② admission officer evaluation by interview. While the essay test has just one type to evaluate students, admission officer evaluation has two types to evaluate students. Those are ① interview with admission officer and ② even-opportunity type which tries to give students an even opportunity regardless of income.

In 2015, the number of students of Susi admission has been reduced compared to that of last year. The total admission number of students has changed from 1768. Among 1768, students of Susi admission were 1030 in 2014 admission of UOS. In this 2015 admission, the total number of Susi admission was only 695. The essay test selects most of the students of Susi admission. The form of essay test has not changed from last year. First of all, only those who got a letter of recommendation can get a chance to apply for UOS admission. Also, the number of students who get a letter of recommendation is limited. Only two percent of the whole school can get this recommendation. Among 695 students, only 201 students will be admitted through the essay test, and the rest will be admitted through admission officer evaluation. 340 out of 494 students will be admitted through interview type, and 154 students will be admitted through even-opportunity type.

2015 Susi admission has not changed a lot. Newly enrolled students through Susi have decreased in number compared to that of 2014. Despite this reduction, UOS maintained a big outline in the ways they select students. Most importantly, UOS has an idea that UOS has to pursue an education for public good. The unique essay test and maintenance of even-opportunity admission represent the idea of UOS.
