The UOS Student Counseling Center (USCC) held a group counseling program for UOS students from June 22 to July 22. The USCC provides a variety of counseling programs every year, and this summer they offered a group counseling using art therapy, meditation, and unstructured diagnostic interview.

This group counseling program targeted students who wanted to receive specific yet comfortable treatment. As students talked with others in their group about their difficulties, they found that they empathized those who have similar concerns. There was a basic rule that all participants and counselors had to follow in the program: for privacy, everything mentioned in the session must be kept secret.

“Many students are hesitant to visit the Center for lots of reasons. But I hope students will come and talk about their difficulties without feeling that it’s a burden. Solving difficulties together is much better than trying to do it alone. The USCC is always open to everybody.”

The USCC is planning another group counseling program next year. Students can register for the program through the website (counsel.uos.ac.kr), by phone (02-6490-6270), or by visiting the center.
