On Oct. 30, the UOS held a mentoring program and a campus tour for students from the Jongchon High School, which was newly opened on last March in Sejong City. This event aimed at giving high school students some experience with college life and providing the UOS students’ advice about how to run school clubs.

The university’s central clubs and press organizations participated in the program as mentors. Min-ki Chae (Dept. of Public Administration, ’14), the president of Eolssigu, said, “The Jongchon students wanted to start a club for Korean traditional music like Pungmulpae, so we tried to offer our experience about  keeping instruments and explained how they could operate the club. It would be a great pleasure if our advice could help them with running such a club.” The campus tour was carried out in the afternoon after the mentoring program.

Ji-yeon Won, an accompanying teacher from Jongchon High School, said that the visit was a great success. “All the faculty and students were actually worried about meeting with the UOS students at first,” she said “But after the visit, most students were so satisfied that some of them wanted to apply to the UOS when they go to a college. There were even calls from their parents showing appreciation for the campus tour. And this program led Jongchon students to consider their future.”
