UOS held its first inauguration ceremony of the women’s football team, Beta, in Gymnasium on May 12th. President of UOS, Yun-hi Won, and several professors of UOS attended the inauguration and celebrated the foundation of Beta. Won said, “There is no activity other than sports in which we can learn cooperation. Studying in front of the desk is important, but working out is also precious. With Beta, female students of UOS will gain much useful experience and energy.”

Sun-hwan Hwang, the football coach of Beta, said, “Since there was no official women sports club, this foundation of Beta means a lot to UOS and women’s sports. Beta will provide all UOS students an opportunity to corporate. And at the same time, we hope that it will increase the health of female UOS students.”

According to the captain of Beta, Sue-hyun Jeong (Dept. of Sport Science, ’14), “Our goal of this year is to achieve our first victory. We will do our best not to harm the honor of UOS as an official sports club.”

Beta has a year-round recruitment program. There is no specific test for joining the club. Female UOS students who want to play soccer in Beta just need enthusiasm for soccer.
