The 3D printing studio of UOS will charge a fee for using the 3D printer from this year. Previously, as a test operation, use of the 3D printer was free, but as this test period has ended, there will be a fee charged when using it. Another reason of the fee, other than the end of the support period, is to focus more on people who are start-ups or those who desperately need to use the studio.

Last year, many students used the printer for their assignments, but by charging a fee, they aim to help people who are more in need. The charging differs depending on the usage time of the printer. If the material is special or the design is very exquisite, additional fees could be charged.

However, lectures on the use of the 3D printer will continue without charge. Basic lectures take place for two weeks in each month on Tuesdays and Thursdays (you should attend two of the lectures to complete the basic course). Lectures for professional design are also planned to take place more often than last year.

Furthermore, lectures are open to members of UOS, but use of the printer is open to the public regardless of whether they have had lectures or not. Song Hyun-kyoon, the supervisor, said he would welcome more creative users and will be there to help the new users. He added, however, if you are planning to submit your work with a 3D printed piece, please visit the studio several weeks in advance, before the submission day, since the result may not be the same as your thought. The end of the semester is a busy time for the studio, but during the semester or vacation season is when less people visit.
