On May 2, the University of Seoul (UOS) held a ceremony to celebrate its 100th birthday. It took place on a special stage in front of the Main Auditorium, from 10:30 a.m. to around noon. The event started with a short video which commemorates UOS’s history.
UOS’s President Won Yun-hi and Park Won-soon, the mayor of Seoul, visited and announced their remarks congratulating the centennial anniversary. Also, many honored guests such as the president of alumni association and representatives from municipal parliament and the National Assembly attended this ceremony. The event continued with a video message from global partners, giving the certificates of merit to former Presidents of the university. The ceremony went into its climax with UOS’s vision announcement, time capsule burial and singing the school song.
Many faculties, students, and alumni joined this event and congratulated the 100-year history. However, even the university prepared raincoats for the guests, due to the heavy rain in the occasion, many people experienced a disturbance during the event. After the main event, two of the school cafeterias, the one at the Natural Science Building and the other one at the Student Hall, served free lunch for the citizens and school members.
