The essay test, which is one of the major admission exams for early admission decisions, was held at UOS for two days, on October 6 and 7. During this examination, no one was allowed to enter specified university buildings except for exam supervisors.
The exam sites, which were nearby examination halls, were full of not only people who participated in the entrance exam, but also people who came to cheer for the applicants. Many high school seniors applied for the entrance exam this year. According to the Office of Admissions Affairs, 7,935 high school seniors applied for the essay test, though actual enrollment will be limited to only 151 of them. According to SCOUTER, the official honorary admission ambassador of UOS, the competition was so intense that there were no successful candidates in some examination rooms. The average competition rate of the essay test was approximately one to 53. The most competitive major for this admission process was the Department of Philosophy, where the admission rate was recorded as one to 75. Successful candidates of the essay test are planned to be announced on December 14.
The other admission procedure, which consists of evaluation of detailed scholistic records, was carried out on November 24 and 25. Successful candidates of the first step were announced on November 16th, and these applicants took interview tests on these two days. The three most competitive majors were Life Science (one to 36.67), Sports Science (one to 33.13), and Materials Science and Engineering (one to 28.13). Applicants can check the final results on December 14, which is the same as the date of the announcement of results for the essay examination.
