The candidate debate conference of the ninth President of the University of Seoul (UOS) was held from 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 12. The panel discussion was held at the International Conference Room of the Centennial Anniversary Hall. Faculty members, staffs, and students of the UOS participated for evaluating qualification of the five candidates. The five candidates are as follows: Won Yong-kul, Professor of the School of Economics; Suh Soon-tak of the Dept. of Urban Administration; Lee Jung-won of the Dept. of Philosophy; Min Hyun-soo the Dept. of Physics; and Lee Choon-woo of the School of Business Administration. This open forum provided members of UOS with an opportunity to examine blueprint of each candidate how they are going to develop UOS. What this presidential election is noteworthy is that this is the first case for students to be available to having a right to vote candidates through their representatives. Although the amount of student voters will be restricted to 130 people, this trial has a positive meaning that student can participate in and exert political opinions by voting for the President.

 The ninth presidential election of UOS planned on Dec. 19 and held at the Main Auditorium. All candidates promised that they will take an effort to improve environment of learning and research. As members of the UOS, The UOS Times expects that newly selected president of UOS work for all the members of UOS.
