Above all, the President Suh said, "There are several crises on UOS: decreasing of the number of enrollment and confrontation of dynamical changes; called 4th Industrial Revolution. However, these crises can be an “opportunity” for our university. I will rebuild our university by leading the spirit of the times and values of the future, and so our school will be reborn as a leading university in the future. Also, I will make an effort so that UOS can foster professions who lead to solving urban issues of future, proceed the innovation of knowledge-based convergence research, and take a head of cooperation and sharing of values with the world and the community."

Afterward, the President Suh announced two big projects. The first project is to establish the Seoul Big Data Research Institute to make UOS a hub for data-based urban science researches that contributes to the resolution of urban problems by surveying and analyzing social, economic, cultural and technological data. The second project is to establish a global campus of our university in Asian cities: Ulaanbaatar, Mumbai, and Hanoi. This globalized blueprint has a purpose that UOS make a try to cultivate professional manpower in overseas cities; and contribute to solving urban problems and ultimately expanding the global capabilities of universities.
