For the College of Urban Sciences students of the University of Seoul(UOS), UOS is conducting a project called Do-si-me-in with Seoul city. Do-si means city, me is similar to mi from the first syllable of mi-rae which means future, and in is from in-jae means talented-person in Korean. The name means that the project is for future talented people in the urban academic field. Students would visit sister cities of Seoul city, learn and experience foreign cities. It has twice a year. In summer, students already visited to Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, Warszawa in Poland, Talinn in Estonia, and etc.. The other of students would be sent in this winter, visit San Francisco in the United States, Milano in Italy, Panama City in Panama, Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi in Vietnam, Wellington in New Zealand and etc..
Students make teams and plan each project about the cities. After that, they go to the foreign cities to run the project for a month. To introduce one of them, the team named SEOULaanbaatar visited Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia as you can see form the name. They research about four topics for the project, branding and tourism, transportation, social welfare, and housing and environment of Mongolia. All team members take roles as investigator, challenger, volunteer, and explorer, and each role research one topic specifically They share their exploration on Instagram by making card news. @seoul_ulaanbaatar shows quite detailed information of the attractions. It has not just simple tourism information, it shows accessibility, service, cost, congestion, and an opinion for visitation and recommendation.
The team also made local videos to show information by a graphic media and that uploaded on YouTube. SEOULaanbaatar’s video won the prize and showed in the Urban Film Festival on November 7 to 9.
