Because of COVID-19, the University of Seoul (UOS) freshmen are staying at home and cannot enjoy their university life which they highly expected. For that reason, UOS job platform developed a project to console, give useful information, and provide an opportunity for them to spend this time meaningfully.
In order to get more information about this project, The UOS Times had a written interview with UOS job platform.
The project was conducted through a one-on-one, telephone counsel. Thirty freshmen applied for the project and they all got a telephone counsel. According to UOS job platform, freshmen were mostly concerned about timing: timing for exchange student programs, the military enlistment, preparing TOEIC or TOEFL and etc.. There were also many worries about extra-curricular activities and employment planning. UOS job platform provided personalized consulting on these questions. For example, to a student who is thinking about a career in the field of public administration, UOS job platform informed of various career paths, required capacity, and websites where the student can get more information. Not only that, UOS job platform provided detailed information through e-mail interviews with the seniors and provided the school telephone number of school officials who could give them guidance.
UOS job platform used to be The Employment and Foundation Course Support Center before. As it changed, it integrated extra-curricular activities and existing employment support functions, so it can now give more practical help to students. In addition to career counseling, it operates the employment competency development model program in two courses: one is focused on strengthening student’s competency and another is focused on self-directing. There are various programs in each course and programs operated by period are different. Thus, students should check the information of the program they want to join.
If you are a student who has a lot of concerns about your future and university life, especially freshmen, visiting UOS job platform or joining its programs would be of great help to you.
