Finally, spring has come and the trees are becoming greener and greener. Plus as a freshman just entered, I feel that the atmosphere on the campus is brighter than ever.

These days every corner in campus is filled with festival mood and everyone is excited about it. The UOS Times is one of the things that made me excited with the new world, university.

When I first got The UOS Times from my friend who is a member of the club, to tell the truth, I thought it might be boring as any other school newspapers, so I didn’t pay much attention to it. However, when I started to pick it up I read an article about freshmen, carefully.

The article was full of information about freshmen’s adaptation to school life and it helped me a lot. Especially, the pictures of school facilities made me curious about the school.

Also I really enjoyed the article written by a student who went to China to study abroad. I could feel the difficulties she had to go through in the foreign country where she has never lived before. That article was helpful for me to understand China better. There are three things which make The UOS Times great. First, it is made by students, so we can hear the news from our own voice.

What is more, the reporters who are also students know what the fellow students want to know, so they are able to inform us of the problems the students are focusing on nowadays. Second, the article was neatly organized. The background pictures and tables are neat enough to make the readers feel good and comfortable. Third, the topics of the articles are pretty well-chosen.

The information is sufficient enough. However, there are a few things that I want The UOS Times to change. First, the articles are not all written by the UOS students. Too many articles are written by non-UOS students. The UOS Times is the voice of UOS students. Although a variety of opinions can be shown, it is not a desirable situation.

If we let the other school students write our school magazine too much, it would mean that we give up our responsibility for informing the school issues and opinions. Therefore, we should encourage our students to write articles. I hope our students to be active. Second, I enjoy the topics in your magazine but English newspapers have a few readers.

So I think The UOS Times should concentrate on entertainment areas to get more attention from the students who don’t have much interest in English. All of our attention, participation and endeavor to develop The UOS Times can make our school better. I hope The UOS Times will become a better voice of students in the future.
