Today, one of the hot issues among university students is whether our school¡¯s proposal for establishing ‘Law School’ will be authorized by the Korean government or not.

In some universities, Law School has become a more important and urgent mission than any other issues. They’re investing a a lot of money to get the authorization to implement the Law School system.

For example, in SungKyunKwan University (SKKU), the buildings for the department of Law have been rebuilt recently. Other universities are also employing outstanding faculty members in Law because they believe it could help to get permission for the Law School system and to solve the financial problems.

It is obvious that the introduction of the Law School system will mean something to differences among universities. Whether a university introduces a system or not may determine a competitive power of the school.

That’s because the competitive power of the Law department is closely related to the school. That¡¯s why all the colleges are now interested in the Law School system. The UOS should also steadily carry out various projects to introduce the Law School system.

If the Law School system is introduced to a school whose tuition fee is expensive, students who cannot afford the expense will not be able to enter the Law School. It is because they should pay the additional tuition and fee to the Law School as well as those to the school. Therefore, it is proper to introduce the Law School system in public universities.

I think our university is a reasonable school for this. The UOS charges tuition and fee at a reasonable level compared to other colleges. We can have potential if we employ talented people as our faculty, expand and remodel the buildings for the Law department because we already have a merit in the tuition and fee. Besides, our school has the very place to study in.

Recently, President Lee, Sang-Bum seems more enthusiastic than ever to develop our college. Remodeling the buildings, increasing the budget for advertising the school, interviewing with students on the projects for the development of our school are some of the evidences. With this efforts, our school will surely excel any other universities in Korea once the Law School is introduced.
