The reporter interviewed a current reporter of The Korea Herald through E-mail. Her name is Eun-joo Bae.

Q 1. When did you enter the company? Do you have a special interest in English newspapers?

A: I graduated in 1995 and entered the Korea Herald though exam. I did not have a special reason but I have done it until now.

Q 2. Is there anything hard about your job?

A: Writing an article in English is not an easy thing. It takes many hours and hardship to get used to it. Moreover, English newspaper companies have very few reporters, compared to other Korean newspapers, that puts an even greater workload on us.

Q 3. How do you study English, especially in writing?

A: Each person has their own way, but most of them like English. When you always read books written in English by yourself, your writing ability slowly improves. When I was a university student, I really loved writing, so I used to translate newspaper articles in English. I recommend watching English idioms, and sayings from books to help you.

Q4. Do you have anything to say to students who want to be a reporter?

First of all, you have to like English. If you want to be an English newspaper reporter, but do not like English, it will be very difficult for you to work for an English newspaper company. You also need to make it a habit to think and speak in English.
