Did you know that there is an outstanding robot-making club in our school? I’m pleased to introduce this club to you.

It’s `Zetin, (ZETIN:ZEro To INfinite) which stands for infinitude prosperity. Three aspiring students of the Department of Control Measurement Engineering founded the club in 1993. Unfortunately, Zetin was not a formal club when it started, however, although it is not very long since Zetin was established, it began to distinguish itself in the micro robot sector, so it has become one of the most beloved formal clubs in The University of Seoul now.

Zetin studies and makes small and cute micro robots. So people think it seems easy to make them but you’ve got to know how complicated that little machine is. It can be referred to as the flower of modern high-tech technology that includes measurement and control technology. This can be used on control and sensing technology research as well as a foundation of application for robot manufacturing technology.

In November last year, Jo Tae hee,( Department of Electronic Engineering 98) participated in the 12th Japanese Micro Mouse Contest, and won first prize in the line tracer part with a robot name `Finder’. A Line tracer robot automatically moves along white tape attached to a blue-black grounded board, and detects it by using an infrared rays sensor. Along with this event, in many micro robot contests, Zetin enhanced the national prestige abroad as well as its own fame.

But it didn’t stop there. In 1998, they started to hold nationwide line tracer contests in celebration of the 80th anniversary of the University of Seoul. As the event grows in popularity every year, this year, Zetin held the 4th nationwide line tracer contest on August 25th at the Student Hall successfully. One hundred sixty seven teams enrolled in the contest and one hundred two teams participated in the event.

The club president, Kim Mi- hyang, (Department of Electronics Engineering 99) said, "I’m very proud of being a member of this great club. We, Zetin members have been doing our best like Zetin’s meaning for a long time. I wish these robots are loved by not only manias but common people as well."
