Have you ever heard the 2006 International Cultural Exchange Fair(ICEF 2006)? It was held 25~26th March in MIZY(Myoungdong Info Zone of Youth) center which is located on the second floor of the Seoul Youth Hostel building.

This fair provides free information about how to join various international cultural exchange programs and opportunities to meet representatives of organizations. NEWS@UOS met Jeong Yu-jeong, a senior of the Dept.of urban Sociology, who was a member of an operation group in ICEF 2006. She had applied for the vacant seat resolutely. After passing difficult tests she undertook responsible tasks.

As a member of the operation group, what exactly was your major role in ICEF 2006? The main purpose of this fair is to notify many young people of the importance of international exchange. I did all sorts of publicity activities. Expecially I took charge of decoration. I had attached public relations posters, provided visitors with stickers.

And I assisted some representative of international organizations. So, I strongly focused on informing. What was your difficulty in advancing this fair? The great difficulty for me was standing in the fair for 8 hours. Because of strong fatigue, I got a bit of annoyance.

But I tried to smile to visitors. There were really many viewers in the fair. So, I couldn’t have a comfortable lunch time. That was the difficulty for me. Except for those, every activity was enjoyable and really interesting. Have you ever participated in any exterior events? I`m considerably interested in cases related to international exchange.

I have known this is my aptitude since I participated in the UOS Global Leadership Program. So, last summer vacation, I went around to a Chooncheon blind and dumb school that was sponsored by the International Workcamp Organization(IWO). So, I`ll participate in many exterior international activities. I want to become a member of International conference planning group in the future.

Through this activity, what did you obtain? First of all, thanks to partaking with positive and challenging people, I could reflect upon myself by looking at those people. And I got lots of information about international exchange programs.

Please give us some advice for students in the UOS. There are various of programs that we can participate in now. It has many programs not only in the UOS but also in the exterior field. We are young and we can do everything. Grab this chance. Be more active. I hope you find your infinite possibility. Challenge new activity!
