The Seoul Times had many attributes. The writers used common English redundant, so that most of the students could understand easily. I thought that was the most important purpose for having an English magazine in our university.
About the magazine, the English section was very helpful for me because I could check my English level by the "Midterm exam." However, I thought it would be better to focus more on the idioms that are used in everyday life. From middle school to high school, we only concentrate on grammar, but it should be somewhat different at university.
In addition, I really liked the humor sections very much. It made me laugh out loud, and what`s more, it relieved some stress from my busy life. Nevertheless, I thought it is enough to have one humor section because the magazine seemed that it didn`t have enough space for two humor sections.
About the cover story, I thought that the cover stories are there to get peoples` attention and put good ideas into the writings. Of course, The Seoul Times`s cover stories had great main ideas, but it didn`t seem to getting lots of peoples` attention.
And as I turned the pages inside, it looked a bit boring because of its colors. It only had blue. It may be good for the eyes, but I thought it needed to make people more interested. Also, the pictures that were taken in the magazine were average, and they made the magazine look dull.
Even though there are still some improvements to make, I was very satisfied with and proud of UOS English magazine, The Seoul Times. I hope you continue to do your best for our university`s English magazine, and I will be looking forward to seeing your next issue.
