The Humanities Institute of the UOS was recently selected for `The Developing Institute of Humanities Korea` by the Korea Research Foundation and the Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development.

This project is promoted to expand the domain of humanities and strengthen the its research infrastructure. 153 different institutes applied for the project. Of these only 30 institutes including the UOS were chosen. So our institute will be financially supported with about 720,000,000 Won over 10 years.

The main research subject of the institute is `The Humanistic Vision of Global-Urbanism` Lee Seong-baek, a head of the institute said "The form of a city continuously undergoes transformation. So, it will soon pass beyond metropolis and become another new form which could be named global-megalopolis. And this will be our research agenda."
