2008 Daedongje ‘Play Ground’
The 2008 Daedongje, the UOS campus festival, was held for four days, from May 20 to 23, especially celebrating the 90th anniversary of the UOS. The topic of this festival is ‘Play Ground.’ During the festival, despite hot weather, many students participated in lots of events; Creative Destruction Performance, JangSanGotMae Song Contest and Daedongje Mini-Marathon etc. On the last day the TBS open pre-recording was held and many singers came to sing their famous or new songs. Also each department opened a temporary bar from 22 to 23 and a lot of clubs held varied and unique programs.
Job Fair in May
From May 21 to 23, the ‘Job Fair in May’ was held in the 21st Century Building on the 1st floor. This fair was to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the UOS and was also one of the events of the campus festival; ‘Daedongje.’ The purpose of this fair was to give information to students who were searching for jobs about employment trends and also to the rest of the students who would do the same thing later to help them to motivate and map a strategy.
During the fair days, there were several events such as tips for preparing a resumé, consultations on interviewing skills, make-up, hair style, choosing suitable clothes by duties and business, free picture-taking for resumés, foretelling future-job fortunes by reading tarot cards, knowing the possibility of being hired, personality and aptitude by reading fingerprints.
Publication of the UOS History Book and Garden Homecoming
On May 30 the Publication Ceremony and Garden Homecoming was held in front of the Student Hall. About 280 people attended and celebrated this event including President Lee Sang-bum and Prof. Jeong Jae-jeong (Dept. of Korean History, Editor-in-Chief of the UOS History Book of the 90 Years). The book includes the UOS’history main section and a photo section. This structure provides convenience for readers to recognize the long history of the UOS. This project was started last September by four professors of the Dept. of Korean History and published.
