“Well, I went to the General Lecture and Law Institute because I have a class there. I think this building is really great. I want to attend lectures in this building next year after the law school students enter.”

“The completion of the Information and Technology Building, opening of Western style restaurant in the second floor of the Student Hall, and now the completion of the General Lecture and Law Institute. I can’t stop shouting exclamations about how fast the University of Seoul (UOS) grows.” said Park Eun-hye (Dept. of Public Administration, 07’).

In September, the General Lecture and Law Institute that we look forward to was completed. This building was built for the law school, but until this year the UOS has had no law school students, so many of UOS students are attending cultural subjects in the General Lecture and Law Institute this semester.

All of UOS students who saw this building admired its design, facilities, and unique construction not because this building is new or big, but rather because of all the special features that the General Lecture and Law Institute has, it has already been called the ‘Jeonnong Airport’ before it was completed. The General Lecture and Law Institute is a place that connects research, study and leisure and it’s a very effective way to use space. There is a moot court and library for law school students and in wellness center, there is a squash and tennis court for UOS students and professors.

Monotonous designs like those of the other buildings can’t attract people’s interest. At this point, the General Lecture and Law Institute’s design succeeded in stimulating interests. The large expanse of glass that replaces a wall, and a courtyard, that in front of the building looks very new and striking.

Lee Sang-bum, President of the UOS said, “We will try to be a top-five university in the country and give love to students and their parents.” at an interview to mark the 90th anniversary. The affirmation of law school and the completion of the General Lecture and Law Institute is one step towards being in the top five.
