Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, visited the UOS to give a lecture on October 27. The lecture was entitled ‘Design Your Future’.

He started this lecture by saying ‘Let’s talk about how to live by watching civil affairs’. Also he said that the policies of Seoul will give students some advice on how to plan their futures.

In this lecture, he emphasized that ‘these days, competition between cities is becoming more essential. So, the values that Seoul city has to create are a unique culture, caring, and harmony among citizens in order to survive in these competitive times. When it comes to evaluating a person’s ability, this value can also apply to our lives.’

In the following manner, he advised UOS students by saying that ‘You have to raise your own attractiveness and strong points. In modern times, products that are simply well-made can’t be sold because these are insufficiently competitive.’ Subsequently he highlighted that it is important to ‘make your lives adding cultural interest and artistic imagination.’

At the end of this lecture, he introduced his motto; being respected by the wise, being loved by children, being praised by the critics and find out the best from others.

Some students then asked him some questions. One of the questions was about founding a Medical School, but he did not answer clearly. The mayor said ‘It is premature to mention. It’s more important to develop the College of Urban Science and discuss the Law school.’
