A case of infection was reported at the University of Seoul on Aug. 24. One of the faculty members who work in the head office was infected with the COVID-19. As a result, students who entered the building from Aug. 18 to Aug. 21 were forced to self-isolate for two weeks. Luckily, the family and the ones who closely contacted the infected were tested negative. The rest of the faculty members also did not show any symptom of COVID-19 and not a single secondary infection was reported yet.

In the wake of such infection, the university resumed fortifying the safety regulations. The university multi-texted the announcement and the guideline regarding how to prevent the COVID-19 to every student and faculty member. Students and teachers were forced to restrain from visiting campus, and always keep up personal hygiene by washing their hands regularly. On top of all, the university strongly advised students and faculty to wear a mask except when alone. Alongside the guidelines proliferated by the university, the campus itself has strengthened the lockdown like the incipient period of the COVID-19 crisis. The university restricted the use of the school cafeterias and cafes until social distancing gets alleviated to Level 1 stage, while only drinking was allowed in the cafeteria. Aside from the school cafeterias, students were restricted from using the library and sports facilities.

It is indeed the time that needs cooperation from both students and citizens. The eminent Henrietta Fore, the Executive Director of UNICEF, said to prevent the COVID-19 crisis from spiraling into a crisis, people should act now.
