The Central Disease Control Headquarters said 110 people were newly confirmed as of midnight on the same day. As a result, the number of confirmed domestic COVID-19 has increased to 22,893 (3067 from overseas). Of the confirmed cases, 106 were found to have occurred in Korea, and four were found to have flowed into the country.
Most of the domestic outbreaks originated in the metropolitan area. Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Incheon have confirmed 90 cases in the metropolitan area including Seoul. Also, there were four new cases in South Chungcheong Province, four in North Gyeongsang Province, and two in Busan, Daegu, and Daejeon. In Gwangju, Ulsan, Sejong, Gangwon, South Jeolla, South Gyeongsang, and Jeju, there were no more cases reported. The number of COVID-19 patients in isolation decreased by 90 to 2,545. Of them, 152 are seriously ill. Another death toll has been added, with a cumulative death toll of 378 (fatality rate of 1.65 percent).
Although the number of confirmed cases per day is decreasing, the rate of decrease is still slow. The metropolitan area remains at a high level of around 75 percent of the entire infection cases. Hence, the importance of social distancing even during the upcoming Chuseok (Thanksgiving day, in English) season should be emphasized at all times.
