The current COVID-19 situation is causing widespread fear of disease. In conjunction with this COVID-19 situation, the season is changing from summer to fall, and people can feel the cool air in the morning and evening in these times. Sometimes overlooking this severe daily temperature range leads our bodies to the danger of disease. In a country with four distinct seasons such as Korea, many people often catch a cold and respiratory disease when the season changes from summer to fall and from winter to spring.
However, under the current COVID-19 circumstances, going to the hospital for medical treatment is a burden. In addition, if people cough or sneeze in public due to these diseases, they will be able to be given the hairy eyeball. Therefore, following the ways suggested below will not only help people prevent cold and other diseases but also increase immunity during the change of seasons. How do people prevent diseases and improve immunity? Here are some methods to cope with such diseases and become a healthy body.

1. Pay attention to the indoor temperature and humidity.
You have to regulate indoor humidity using a humidifier and wet towel, and maintain the air in the room cleanly by airing out the house. It is necessary to keep the indoor air cleanly because bronchial tubes become sensitive in the change of seasons.

2. Intake plenty of moisture.
It is good to drink lots of water in order to prevent the respiratory system from getting dry and to increase immunity. It would be a good method to raise body temperature by drinking hot tea or water.

3. Eat some foods to prevent catching a cold.
Pear, balloon flower root, and quince not only prevent cold, cough, phlegm, and asthma but also improve fitness and strengthen immunity. Especially, quince is rich in vitamin C, citric acid, and apple acid to prevent viruses from entering the body and also has antiviral effects to prevent cold in advance.

4. Get enough sleep.
Sleeping helps the body recover from fatigue and maintain a healthy body and mind.  According to a study, experimenters medicated the cold virus to a group who sleep less than seven hours and those who sleep more than eight hours, and the study showed those who sleep enough were less likely to catch a cold. This is the result of an experiment that shows the immune system works properly when you get enough sleep. Therefore, sleep is necessary to improve immunity and recover from fatigue.

In preparation for these in-between seasons, cold and respiratory diseases should be prevented. Especially, if the immune system weakens, it is more likely to be exposed to the COVID-19. The above precautions are methods that can enhance the body’s immune system and prevent diseases. Let’s enjoy the upcoming fall by keeping the above precaution in mind!
