Due-to COVID-19, our society is in a deep depression, especially among the twenties. According to a survey of the Health Insurance Examinant Department, the number of medical treatments for depression in the twenties increased by 28.3 percent compared to the previous year.

Experts said the twenties are undergoing serious lethargy because they cannot meet friends, go to universities, or properly prepare for a job. As COVID-19 prolonged, college students spend almost time doing excessive homework while they cannot go outside due to social distancing.

This leads to the great depression, in other words, ‘burnout’. ‘Burnout’ means being overly exhausted when an individual cannot release stress or feel tired of stuffy life. This phenomenon is prevalent among the twenties, who have been stuck at home.

Also, in this situation, depressed college students are hugely affected by the Werther Effect. Werther Effect means following suicides after the suicide of renowned celebrities. Since there has been a continuous tragedy, twenties are extremely exhausted, resulting in overall mental illness.

There is an urgent need for the twenties to properly deal with stress and find a way to be revitalized.
