Many students who took the `Principles of Business` class from Professor Shon described the professor with these words: infamous, fearful, and helpful. Also, a lot of students who have not taken the class know many things about both the professor and the structure of the class. Why did he become so well known among the university students? What is so special about him?

Have you heard of the Royal Race?

"To say this in a business point of view..." he continued, "the situation of the students is exactly like a product life cycle, which is changing so quickly. Since so many product life cycles became shorter and shorter, even the customers do not know what they want. This is why the companies have to find out what are the customers` needs and wants are, instead of reacting to the customer too late to be successful. Therefore, this kind of attitude is what our students need: keep on broadening their perspective about the outside world."

*** Bae Hyun-joo (Business Administration `08): I personally thought that the class was hell. I was not used to using time efficiently so `I did not have much time to rest or study. But, the professor looked like he had so much interest in his students. Not many professors pay much attention to students and remember all the names of the students. ***

Flicking the ashes from the cigarette, he started talking about his next point. "Do you know what percentages of the students pass the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or civil service examination? I do not know exactly but I am sure that the percentage is pretty low compared to the percentage of the students who are studying or have been studying for the exam.

The problem here is that the students do not prepare for their exams by their own will. They are too other-directed that they make decisions by observing at what other UOS students are doing. Many students think that having CPAs or becoming public officials will lead to a better life. They do not know what they really want and most of all, they do not exactly know about themselves. The students need to self-examine themselves."

"The last thing is that the students are too naive. Not many students can look straight into real life. They go crazy on unrealistic sayings. They have so many hopes that cannot possibly happen. Without knowing the real situation, this will go on."

*** Kang Byung-kuk (Mathematics `03): Everything in the class was related to `processes.` In my company, we also have to adjust to a process and revise it if there is something wrong. The class has made me somewhat stronger to adapt to this kind of situation in real life. ***

Right after the professor`s description about the third point, another question was asked. Of course, these things can get better. All my comments do not mean that the UOS students are not competitive or are worthless. They already have plenty of potential, but they need to boost their overall self-confidence. Also, they have ability to tolerate painful and hard situations.

Therefore, with a proper guidance, I believe that the UOS students will become competitive, worldly, self confident and able to deal with any problems better. Just then a student came by to visit the professor with some snacks and we finished our interview.
