In December, the spread of COVID-19 is suddenly worsening due to the mass infections in schools, academies, nursing hospitals, and religious facilities all over the country. The Seoul metropolitan area, where the sick are mainly distributed, implemented Level 2.5 of social distancing rules from December 8.
As a result, face-to-face exams have become impossible for universities that are about to end their semester. In the Level 2.5 social distancing rules, University of Seoul does not allow face-to-face exams for the classes taken by more than 21 students. Smaller classes with less than 20 students are allowed to take a face-to-face exam, but it remains to be seen whether the tests are finally possible.
“Non-face-to-face” exams are difficult to supervise cheating. Therefore, professors try to fairly conduct the tests in various ways, such as giving less time for testing or choosing open-book tests. Thus, students should also cooperate to ensure that non-face-to-face tests are conducted fairly.
