University of Seoul(UOS) preannounced the reform of academic excellence scholarship, which will be applied in the first semester of 2022 with the new name: UOS talent scholarship. The evaluation criterion that only reflects grade remains unchanged, but students have to focus on the newly added two basic requirements for eligibility.

The first requirement is to participate in an extracurricular program. First graders must participate in the program once every six months. Second to fourth graders must participate in the program three times a year. For example, in order to receive the scholarship in the first semester of 2022, the period in which the participation is admitted is June to December 2021 for first graders and January to December 2021 for other graders.

The second requirement is to meet the minimum standard on the language proficiency test (for example, TOEIC). The minimum score differs depending on the grade and the field of major. You can check the minimum score for the TOEIC in the pictures.

The reason for this reform is to reinforce the various abilities of individual students. Moreover, it is an attempt to go against the current grade-based system. UOS students who want to get the scholarship have to prepare for the new requirements from this year. To give a tip, the extracurricular program includes various special lectures, field trips, tutoring, volunteering, etc. Also, the upcoming TOEIC test will be on April 11.
