On the evening of April 4, University of Seoul (UOS) students and faculty members appeared on a JTBC variety show titled “The Gentlemen’s League.” It was shot on March 13 at the gym in the Centennial Memorial Hall of UOS.

“The Gentlemen's League” is a famous TV program in which retired athletes of various sports and several celebrities appear in order to play basketball together. The cast members have formed an amateur basketball team and play games with other basketball teams every week.

This time, the opposing team of the cast was the Hawks, composed of members of UOS. According to Ha Sung-yeop (Dept. of Sport Science, 18’), who joined the game, the university applied for the filming by sending an email to the broadcasting station. The Hawks coach was a professor at the Department of Sport Science, so luckily, Ha was selected as one of the players.

Thanks to the fabulous cheering performance of Amicus, the UOS cheer team, and the remarkable job of the Hawks, the filming was successful. The final score was 38 to 31 in favor of Team Hawks. Nonetheless, all of the participants carefully followed the regulation of not spoiling the game’s outcome before the program was broadcasted.

Ha told The UOS Times that being a representative of UOS, and perhaps also acting as some people’s first impression of UOS, made him feel pretty pressured. However, his teammates had so much fun while preparing for the show, and they all enjoyed a great deal. He said, “We were happy to contribute to the promotion of our university. In addition, it was a great honor for me to play the game with legendary players who have enhanced our country. I will never be able to forget this experience.”
