On April 25, one university student disappeared at Banpo Han-River Park without a trace, and he was found dead after five days on April 30.

Late at night on April 25, the student and his friend drank excessively together at the park, and they ended up falling asleep outside. After a few hours later when the friend woke up and came to himself, he realized that the student was gone. Even though a lot of people were involved to find the missing student, he was not found until after five days. The body of the missing student with several suspicious wounds was discovered around the river by the rescue dog.

As there are not enough surveillance cameras at the park, it took a lot of effort to find the student. Also, people still have not found out what had happened to the student because of the lack of witnesses as not many people usually stay at the park at dawn. The police investigation is ongoing, but the cause of the death is not yet disclosed.

Han-River Park is one of the most popular places where a lot of university students visit to hang out. In addition, due to COVID-19, people tend to prefer spending time outside to inside, so Han-River Park is the perfect place to have fun these days with such nice weather. However, drinking too much late at night at the park is very dangerous not only because the river is quite close to the park, but also because there are few surveillance cameras that secure visitors’ safety there. This unfortunate case is not someone else’s irrelevant story, but it is the case that can happen to anyone among us at any time. All people including university students should be aware of the risk of excessive drinking and the danger of nighttime activities.
