The University of Seoul (UOS) limits the qualification requirements for some of its second-half professors to women. There are 63 full-time female professors at the UOS, about 15 percent of total professors. According to the operating ordinance by Seoul Metropolitan Government in line with the central government, the number of full-time female professors must reach 25 percent of the total by 2030. However, UOS, which has a much lower proportion than other universities, is bound to hurry.

This is why the above measures came out. Despite being controversial, it seems inevitable for the school to meet its target. It is not just about favoring women, but it is about not allowing men to apply. More complaints are being raised among male doctorate-level researchers. This has to do with precarious environmental conditions. In order for one person to be appointed, another professor must retire, which is an opportunity that does not come often.

At the same time, female applicants are also concerned that their appointment could be attributed to the quota system. Policies that can accommodate these concerns is needed. Opinions are being proposed, such as 25 percent of professors' "appointees" to be women. Now that people who got one’s doctorate have a relatively equal proportion of men and women, government will be able to devise a wide variety of policies.
