Evaluation of international index is used to monitor the increase in university’s effort to raise the ratio of foreign professors, foreign students, foreign language lectures and so on. For instance, among the total university evaluting index the international index is 70 out of 400 according to the Joongang Ilbo newspaper.

The categories evaluated were education and finance (100), international index (70), professor research (120), social reputation (110). Of course the world-famous press also evaluated international indexes of university throughout the world, for example, The Times and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

In reference to the Shanghai Jiao Tong University assessment, the number of Nobel prize and Fields Medal winner alumnus takes 10%, the professors who won Nobel prizes and Fields Medal takes 20%, the number of researchers who were frequently quoted in the field of biology, medical science, physics, engineering, social science takes 20%, the number of thesis selected from Nature and Science takes 20%, number of SCI (Scientific Citation Index) thesis takes 20%, the sum of mentioned 5 factor per number of professors takes 10% in evaluating factor.

In case of The Times peer review takes 50%, quotations of thesis per number of professors takes 20%, ratio of professors and students takes 20%, ratio of foreign students takes 5%, ratio of foreign professors takes 5% in evaluating factors.
