As the number of confirmed cases of Omicron (a mutant virus  of COVID-19) have increased, University of Seoul extended the period of full-online classes by two weeks. Originally, it was a two-week online period after the beginning of the semester, but due to the seriousness of the situation, UOS decided  to proceed online classes until the 4th week. The responses of the students varied. This is because some students prefer offline classes and others do not.

Still, there are offline lectures, due to the characteristics of them.  For example, some sports subjects that require direct body movement are conducted offline. One of the biggest advantages of offline classes is that they are more free to interact with their classmates and professors.

Online classes also have their own advantages. Students can take lectures anywhere and participate in classes by either chatting or speaking. It is also easy to share class materials. However, the fact that it is not easy to interact with peer students is still considered a disadvantage of online classes. This disadvantage also makes various offline activities like college festivals and club activities impossible.  The UOS Times  hopes the situation gets better soon and both classes and activities can proceed with no strings.
