The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the University of Seoul (UOS) jointly operate the "Seoul Senior University" program, which provides a non-degree course for Seoul residents aged 60 or older.

This program aims to enable elderly Seoul citizens to live a more vibrant life in their later years.

It began accepting applications from March 7 online, on a first-served basis.

The education period is from April to December. April to August is the first semester, and September to December is the second semester. Basically, classes will be held face-to-face and lectures will be held in the lecture room of UOS. However, non-face-to-face changes are possible depending on the COVID-19 situation.

There are a total of nine educational subjects, ranging from sports to humanities and art, in order to provide students with many opportunities. In addition, students will be given benefits from UOS. It will provide learning places, allocate its instructors, and open facilities (learning lounges, computer rooms, etc.) of UOS Lifelong Education Center.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to operate "Seoul Senior University" as a pilot project in 2022 and will develop a degree course based on this pilot project.  After that, they will operate a degree course for the elderly (two to three years Academic Credit Bank System) from 2023.

UOS and the Seoul Metropolitan Government are working together to provide Seoul citizens with successful later years. Their efforts will serve as a good example for the aging Korean society.
