On October 29, 2022, there was tragedy that took 158 people’s lives. People gathered to enjoy Halloween that night. However, in one alley, stampede happened because there was too overcrowded. Most of in their 20s lost their lives, leaving grief in many people’s heart.
After the tragedy, there was an opinion that there was not enough police force to maintain order at that night. According to a manager who works in restaurant near the alley where the accident happened, there were policemen less than previous year.
With such a grief and sorrow, on November 22, 2022, the very first press conference of bereaved families held. One of the father of casualties said, “There was no government or police force that night to save my child. Moreover, the government is not doing its job properly after the tragedy.”
The need for the government to listen to the bereaved is now essential. With public who mourns for those who died that night, government should also make a move both for those who died and those who are left.
