The University of Seoul(UOS) is to provide the students with "1,000 won Breakfast." The meal will be served on every weekdays at the school cafeteria, starting from coming April.
"1,000 won Breakfast" is a government-funded project to help university students who suffer from high consumer price of today. Thanks to the project, UOS students can have a hearty meal for the price as less as 1,000 Korean won. The cheap, yet healthy breakfast will be available from 08:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Because the project will be in a pilot operation until the next semester, the servings will be limited to 100 per day.
One of the first universities to provide 1,000 won breakfast was Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU). Many students who don't have time or money to have breakfast everyday were very satisfied that they could start energetic days with such a generous meal. From the spring semester of 2023, many other universities, including Seoul National University, Korea University and Kyunghee University joined to serve 1,000 won breakfast along with UOS.
