Jung Yoon-jung and Yoo Nan-hee, the famous show hosts, caused controversy over their inappropriate remarks during a cosmetic selling show.

On January 28, Jung Yoon-jung used a term of abuse during a cosmetic cream-selling broadcast. It appears that she used profanity as an expression of frustration as she wanted the show to end early. She made excuses and did not apologize despite the request of the staff team for correction. After continuing to argue with viewers who criticized her attitude, she finally posted an apology on the February 17 only after news spread that the home-shopping industry was considering to cancel her show. In addition, on February 4, Yoo Nan-hee mentioned a comedian who died in 2020 after suffering from chronic skin diseases during a live show of cosmetics sales. Although she did not actually say the comedian’s name out loud, she was subject to review by the Korea Communications Standards Commission(KCSC) due to complaints from viewers, saying that it was an inappropriate remark. The viewers also accused her of using the death of others to sell more cosmetics products, saying the comedian’s skin diseases have not been proven to be related. As the controversy continued, she apologized in the next broadcast.

On the 23rd, the Broadcast Advertising Division of the KCSC reportedly ruled on the 14th that the issue violated the “Regulations on Product Introduction and Sales Broadcasting Deliberation.”
Criticism of these issues is expected to continue for a while, given the seriousness of the incidents.
